I’m going to start a new crochet and knitting group for mums with babies and toddlers. We will meet up on the 2nd and 4th Monday mornings near Pucklechurch for some good chat, some knitting and crochet. I have found a great place who are happy to have us and they do great coffee and cakes. Don’t worry if you have never knitted or crocheted before, I’ll show you the basics, help you to choose yarn and pattern and help you when you are ready to try some more advanced stuff. On the other hand, if you are an experienced knitter or crocheter you are very welcome too.
I have spoken to mums, who said they would like to learn, but can’t go to lessons because of their babies.
Several mums said that they would like to come to a group like this to meet other mums. One great thing about craft lessons is that it’s a great place to talk to people. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you like and where you are from, for those 2 hours you will have your craft in common. You will see others make the same mistakes as you, you will share your progress and you will help each other. Conversations just seems to start easily. We often find we know the same person, share the same interests or that we are going through the same stuff with our children.
Recently, a lot has been published about the heath benefits of knitting and crochet. It’s a great way to unwind, relax and have a little bit of me time. And which new mum is not craving a little bit of that?
The meetings will take place in the Quackers Farm Shop (between Pucklechurch and Hinton) every 2nd and 4th Monday (term time only) from 9:45am to 11:45 am. They have a room with a play area for children and little courtyard for when the weather gets better. Please bring your projects if you have any, otherwise I will bring some yarn, hooks and needles that you can purchase. I will also try and bring some activities for the older children. Cost is £5 for the two hour session.
